Are you surprised, appalled, humored?!!
enlargeWell that's the whole purpose of this character. Sir Ytilaer (pronounced eetilair) was created in 1993 by Paxton as a symbol and personification of Midrealism. Paxton created the character's outfit and Sir Ytilaer can be seen occasionally walking through one of Paxton's opening receptions. Sir Ytilaer has a mind of his own and his main purpose is to shock viewers. He appears in many of Paxton's paintings and has the ability to walk freely into any reality or situation at will. A poem Paxton wrote about the knightly character best describes him:

Sir Ytilaer

You should be warned
about the mismatched actions of a transparent
warrior called Sir Ytilaer--

A knight spawned from the mating rituals
performed by two opposing lovers--

Brought to life by spoonfuls of the subconscious
collected from every man- woman- and child--

He wears a helmet of daisies on his invisible head-

A breastplate adorns his chest-

A glove of leather and metal covers his left hand
ready to rip through the blind thoughts of a nonbeliever--

His tailed tux coat trails in the wind
as the warrior travels from one realm to the other--

With his white tipped cane and plaid boxers
the knight walks silently in his boots--

Sir Ytilaer is everywhere but nowhere-

A man yet a woman-

A devil yet a saint-

A genius yet a fool-

A gentleman yet a barbarian-

His only purpose is to wage war on those
who choose to stagnate in one fixed existence--

Sir Ytilaer is allied by the flies in yellow ties-

Friends with the intoxicated mountain goats-

In control of the silver bees-

And kin to the exploding seagulls--

You should be warned
for this Midreal knight will pick the locks to your brain
with his sly tricks and shocking actions-

Releasing you to new realms
that you never dared to investigate before---
